Levi is no longer with us but he remains in our heart. He was the most awesomest dog. He babysat kitties, puppies, kid goats, and baby pigs. We did not realize how much of a peacekeeper he was until he passed. The whole balance of our group was very much disturbed when he left us. It took awhile to get the balance back.
For 15 years we did the Ione Homecoming Petting Zoo and Levi attended most of those. He was so very great with the human kids. But when he needed a break he would go to the gate and I would let him out. He would then go hang out with Richard. When he was ready to come back in he would come back to the gate and stand in line with the kids coming in waiting to be let back in.
Levi was born on 12/10/94. I don't remember the exact day that he died but I'm sure I have it written down some where. I believe he was 11 years old. We had been expecting it. I had made the decision the night before he died that we needed to put him down. I went to bed that night with a heavy heart knowing that the next day I was going to make the appointment. I will forever be grateful that Levi passed that night. He went out to the backyard during the night. We found him the next morning after he had passed on. He was a special guy.
